Pioneering Reproductive Health Leader Dr. Wendy Klein Endorses Jennifer Boysko For Congress

Sterling, VA – Today, Dr. Wendy Klein, a renowned leader in women’s health and Associate Professor Emeritus of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, announced her endorsement of State Senator Jennifer Boysko in her campaign for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District. Dr. Klein highlighted Boysko’s unwavering commitment to advancing reproductive health and protecting abortion rights.

“Throughout her career in public service, Jennifer Boysko has been a fearless champion for the health and well-being of women and families,” said Dr. Klein. “As a physician who has dedicated my life to advancing the health of women, I know firsthand the importance of having leaders in Washington who will stand up to attacks and fight for policies that prioritize reproductive healthcare, including access to safe and legal abortion. Jennifer is exactly that kind of leader.”

Dr. Klein, who co-founded the VCU Institute for Women’s Health, serves on numerous national initiatives to accelerate women’s health research and to promote the health of women, emphasized Boysko’s record of delivering results for Virginia women.

“In the State Senate, Jennifer has been a driving force behind legislation to expand access to essential health services, ensure comprehensive reproductive health care coverage including abortion, and support vital research into women’s health issues,” Dr. Klein continued. “She understands that abortion rights are fundamentally tied to freedom and equality. I’m proud to endorse Jennifer’s campaign for Congress.”

In addition to her pioneering roles at VCU, she is a passionate advocate for access to health care, for improving the health of women, and for gender equity in every arena. Dr. Klein was a two term gubernatorial appointee to the Virginia Board of Health, and was also an appointee to the Virginia Council on the Status of Womens. She currently co-edits the Journal of Women’s Health.

Boysko is a Virginia State Senator and the Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. She is the only Northern Virginia Senator negotiating Virginia’s state budget where she is working to deliver $2.5 billion in new education funding, millions to save Metro, and important investments to improve mental health services and combat climate change. Senator Boysko represented as many as 200,000 residents in Loudoun County for 8 years in the General Assembly. Among her long and accomplished legislative record, this year she carried the constitutional amendment to ensure abortion access, collective bargaining, and paid family and medical leave.
