Former Leesburg Councilmember Vanessa Richardson Endorses Jennifer Boysko

Richardson: "Jennifer is a unifying leader who understands Loudoun."

Today, former Leesburg Town Council Member Vanessa Richardson announced her endorsement of State Senator Jennifer Boysko in her campaign for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District. As the first African American woman elected to the Leesburg Town Council, Richardson highlighted Boysko’s commitment to diversity and her ability to bring people together to solve problems.

“Throughout her years of public service, Jennifer Boysko has demonstrated an unparalleled understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing Loudoun County,” said Richardson. “As a champion for diversity and inclusion, Jennifer knows that our community is stronger when every voice is heard and every resident has a seat at the table. She has a proven track record of uniting people from all walks of life behind common goals, and that’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in Congress.”

Richardson, who made history with her election to the Leesburg Town Council in 2017, emphasized Boysko’s deep roots in the Loudoun community.

“Having worked with Jennifer on local issues, I can attest to her unwavering commitment to Loudoun County,” Richardson continued. “She understands the fabric of our community because she’s been an integral part of it for decades. From her work to modernize our infrastructure to her advocacy for women in business, Jennifer has always put Loudoun first. I’m proud to endorse her campaign for Congress.”

Prior to her historic election to the Leesburg Town Council, Richardson served on the town’s Economic Development Commission and Technology and Communications Commission, where she championed initiatives to expand internet access and support women entrepreneurs. She is also the creator and host of the YouTube series “Live from the Minivan.”

Jennifer Boysko is a Virginia State Senator and the Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee. She is the only Northern Virginia Senator negotiating Virginia’s state budget where she is working to deliver $2.5 billion in new education funding, millions to save Metro, and important investments to improve mental health services and combat climate change. Senator Boysko represented as many as 200,000 residents in Loudoun County for 8 years in the General Assembly. Among her long and accomplished legislative record, this year she carried the constitutional amendment to ensure abortion access, collective bargaining, and paid family and medical leave.
